Fall Tunes: Marraccino gives music suggestions

By: Giovanni Marraccino and Dheeraj Nistala

Well, it’s fall, and we all know that there's nothing better than jamming to some fall tunes, so we’re gonna lay down some funky jams.

  1. "Wake Me Up When September Ends" by Green Day. Nothing's like a little rock and roll to kick off your autumn season (even though its past September).

  1. "Autumn in New York" by Frank Sinatra. While Frank Sinatra may be an oldie, it never fails to give a feeling of peace, and it shows beauty in the fall time, regardless of where you may be.

  1. "Hey Jude" by The Beatles. This song may start off a little bit sad, but turns out to be a "feel good" kind of song; It starts talking about pressure and the bads of life, but more than less speaking to the listener to just let go of the stress and focus on what makes you happy, which is how fall is supposed to make you feel: almost care free.

  1. "Autumn Leaves" by Ed Sheeran. This is a song that is very slow and speaks about his recent break up. Nice to listen to on a long car ride home in the fall. This gives us a nice little calmness in the crazyness that is our lives.

  1. "November Rain" by Guns N’ Roses. This song takes all of the rock and roll that Guns and Roses is known for and ushers in a more R&B style of music. The music is calm and mellow with beautiful vocals. The piano and the flute play a major role in this R&B style.

  1. "Autumn Sweater" by Yo La Tengo. This one may a bit of an oldie but it still shows off that fall spirit. This song is very upbeat and boasts a very exotic tune. This song expresses the fun that people have in fall and this is something that you can get down to. This is one of the funner songs on the list.

  1. "Amber" by 311. This Reggae tune is the type of music you'd expect to hear in fall, being catchy, quirky, but not straying away from the serenity of fall.

  1. "Freelance Whales" by Generator^First Floor. Now this song may have a uncanny name but this song is definitely something worth listening to. This song is made with real instruments and reminds people of growing up and looking out at the sun rising. The warm rays falling on your face and the light filling your room. It makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, and gives you the urge to go buy a farm with a goat named Billy.

  1. "Lorelai" by Fleet Foxes. The Fleet Foxes are a nice little folk band with some great hits like this. It's catchy, upbeat, and tells a story. This type of music is perfect for fall with its blissful theme.
